Origin of Guild Name
The name Team X-Calibre can be broken down into two distinct parts. The word "Team" defines the very essence of what our guild is all about. The very foundation of the guild is based on the old battlecry of the Three Musketeers of "All for one & one for all," where guild members are expected to put the good of the guild above their own personal goals within the game. Through adopting the word "Team" into our guild name, we hoped to highlight these characteristics & instill them into the core of every member of the guild.
The second part of the guild name, "X-Calibre", is a bit of word play on the words "Excalibur" & "Calibre". The word "Excalibur" harkens to the Knights of the Round Table of the days of King Arthur where chivalry, honor & comradarie was at its finest. These are the very characteristics upon which this guild is founded upon. The word "Calibre" refers to the size of bullets & ammunition. Since this guild was originally founded as a competitive clan for the FPS games Medal of Honor & Enemy Territory: Return to Castle Wolfenstein, it seemed like a natural fit.
By combining these two words to form our guild name, we hoped to bring together all of the characteristics noted above. As guild members or others in the game noticed our guild name, they would know right from the start what characteristics the guild was founded on & would be a constant reminder to everyone of what would be expected of someone who carries our name. This sense of personal integrity is what separates us from the other guilds & gives our guild members a sense of pride to be a part of.
Our Journey Through the World of Warcraft
Team X-Calibre has been an active guild in the World of Warcraft since the original release back in the Fall of 2004. The guild originally decided to join the Alliance on the Stormreaver server. After enduring several months of poor server performance & increasingly high server queues, the decision was made to abandon the guild & all of our characters on Stormreaver in hopes of finding a more stable server. After a brief stop on Nerz'hul, the guild laid its roots on the Boulderfist server. In addition to our new server, we also decided to join the ranks of the Horde. Team X-Calibre enjoyed over a year of success as a guild on the Boulderfist server.
Despite its best efforts, the guild experienced a break up in the Spring of 2006 as the guild succumbed to the pressures of pursuing loot & moving forward in guild progression. As this went directly against the foundation around which this guild was built, several of the original members of Team X-Calibre left to form the now defunct guild known as the Forsaken. Those who remained within the ranks of Team X-Calibre felt as if the guild name was tarnished over the break up & decided to form a new guild of their own (Adamantine) in hopes of resurrecting what was lost. Adamantine's tenure as a guild was short-lived as the desire to see Team X-Calibre come back from the ashes led to its resurrection. Despite its best efforts, Team X-Calibre was unable to rebuild the close-knit community that once was & the guild was temporarily shut down shortly thereafter.
With the launch of the Burning Crusade, Team X-Calibre was reborn on the new Misha server to set up shop as an Alliance PvE guild. After the decision was made to re-join the Horde on a PvP server, the guild on Misha was renamed to Shadow Storm. The guild is still running strong. Any members who are looking for an Alliance guild are highly recommended to make their way over to Misha to join them there.
After laying dormant for the past three months, Team X-Calibre is ready to move forward as a raiding guild once again. Out of the ashes of a once proud guild has risen an even stronger & more cohesive guild then ever before. The trials we have experienced have served as a purifying flame to burn through the impurities that plagued the guild in the past. We are one again...focused on the values that this guild was originally built upon over a year ago. The adherence to those values are what once made this guild great...and it will make it great once again. We have decided to lay roots on the Gurubashi server. We hope to learn from our past successes & failures as a guild to ensure a brighter future from this point forward.
Guild Tabard
The guild tabard used by Team X-Calibre was chosen for its simplicity & its ability to be highly recognizable by those who cross our paths...both friends & foes alike. The "X" emblazoned upon the front & back of our tabard refers to the "X" in X-Calibre. While we do have to endure the normal comments regarding our similarities to the design of the X-Men costumes of comic lore, those remarks soon subside as they come to know our guild & what we stand for. The colors of Black & Gold were selected due to its classical look. The Black & Gold is also the primary colors of the Guild Master's alma matta...the Black Knights of the United States Military Academy.
